TRAVEL TO AND FROM CHAMONIX

The nearest international airport to Chamonix is Geneva Airport (GVA) in Switzerland. It’s about 88 kilometres away from Chamonix and typically takes around 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes by road, depending on traffic and the exact departure or destination point in Chamonix.

The total journey time is typically around 5-6 hours. From St. Gervais, you can also take the TGV (high-speed train) from nearby Annecy to Paris, which takes about 4 hours.

 

Chamonix/St. Gervais to Lyon: Train travel from Chamonix or St. Gervais to Lyon also usually involves a transfer at Bellegarde (Ain) or Geneva. The total journey time is typically around 3-4 hours.
